Seeking Ban of Dangerous Chemical Promoted to Treat Cancer
We petitioned the FDA to ban the sale of all dietary supplements containing cesium salts because they present a significant and unreasonable risk of illness or injury.
With few exceptions, there is no evidence that dietary supplements are safe and effective for their marketed uses. Because supplements are regulated as foods, they are exempt from the tougher regulation accorded to drugs. But like drugs, supplements should be shown to be safe and effective for their purported uses before being marketed.
We serve as a watchdog for dietary supplements that are dangerous or don’t live up to marketers’ claims.
