FTC Proposes Ban on AI Impersonation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) today proposed new protections to combat AI impersonation of individuals. Lisa Gilbert, executive vice president of Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“The FTC under Chair Kahn continues to be bold and use all the tools in their toolkit to protect consumers from emerging threats. Today’s proposed rules to ban the use of AI tools from impersonating individuals are an important change to existing regulations and will help to protect consumers from AI generated scams.”
