Biden’s Memorandum Will Help Get the Regulatory Process Back on Track
WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Joe Biden is expected to issue a presidential memorandum withdrawing the Trump administration’s regulatory process executive orders and will direct the U.S. Office of Management and Budget to develop recommendations for improving and modernizing regulatory review in a way that promotes public wellbeing. Amit Narang, regulatory policy advocate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“By repealing the harmful anti-regulatory executive orders issued under the Trump administration and targeting many of its worst regulatory rollbacks, Biden is signaling a bold and aggressive regulatory agenda to combat the multiple crises facing our country and undo the enormous deregulatory damage caused by Trump.
“We applaud Biden for taking these critically important actions on day one of his presidency and stand ready to work with the Biden administration to return federal agencies to their mission of protecting the American people with new and stronger safeguards based on science, evidence, and expertise. We look forward to a Biden administration that restores integrity to our regulatory process and ensures that agencies are working for the public interest, and not for the corporations they are supposed to regulate.”
