Attack on the Clean Air Act
Last month, Lena Pons blogged about the road block Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is contemplating to halt federal regulatory action on global warming. The amendment aimed at stopping EPA regulation of greenhouse gas emissions could hit the Senate floor as soon as Jan. 20. The amendment will need 60 votes to pass the Senate.
We need to prevent this amendment from getting its 60 votes.
The EPA is an important agency in regulating greenhouse gas emissions and the EPA’s Administrator, Lisa Jackson, has placed the agency in a more activist position in carrying out this important mission. Tactics to obstruct the EPA and undercut the tools they have at their disposal -The Clean Air Act – is a dangerous precedent and get us no closer to curbing climate change.
Call your Senators today and tell them to vote no on the amendment that would prohibit the EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions.
