Amazon Must Not Be Allowed to Buy MGM
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amazon announced today that the company intends to buy MGM Studios. Alex Harman, competition policy advocate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“In a stunning act of arrogance while it is under intense antitrust scrutiny, Amazon is moving forward with its second largest acquisition ever. Amazon is prioritizing monopolizing content for the streaming service while completely failing to address the real concerns of workers, small businesses, and regulators. This massive dominant monopoly needs to be broken up, and the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice should do everything within their power to stop this offensive acquisition.”
