Additional CPS Energy Solar Capacity Brightens San Antonio’s Future
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s city-owned energy utility, CPS Energy, announced today that it took another step toward a renewable energy future by adding a 150-megawatt solar farm that will begin operating in 2025.
DeeDee Belmares, clean energy advocate for Public Citizen, issued the following statement:
“This a very good step by CPS Energy. The utility is slowly doing what it should do to prepare for a post-fossil fuel future while also reliably meeting the energy demands of its customers. There is a lot of hard work ahead. Still, these types of investments in increasingly affordable renewable energy will help San Antonio break free from the energy sources of the past, like climate-damaging fracked gas.”
