Hundreds of Texas Youth Rally on Capitol Steps
By Michael Coleman
Austin, Texas was well-represented among the climate strikes happening all over the world on Friday.
Students, young children and older people concerned about the fate of our planet filled the south lawn of the Texas Capitol. Many delivered stirring and inspirational messages.
Most called for a drastic reduction in the use of fossil fuels, noting sadly that Texas leads the nation in greenhouse gas emissions.
Staff from Public Citizen’s Texas office showed up to support the spirited and inspirational rally. We salute the kids and others who took the initiative to attend, as well as those who planned and executed a stellar event for Texas. Please support efforts to combat the global climate crisis. It is the existential struggle of our time.
