Rosenstein Allegations Are a Minor Attraction, Mueller Investigation Into Russian Interference Must Continue
Statement of Lisa Gilbert, Vice President of Legislative Affairs for Public Citizen
Note: The New York Times reported Friday that last year Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein suggested secretly recording President Donald Trump and discussed getting several cabinet members to invoke the U.S. Constitution to declare Trump unfit to be president and remove him from office. Rosenstein denies the report.
In every state, patriotic Americans are poised to take to the streets if Trump interferes with the Russia investigation by firing Rod Rosenstein. The Mueller investigation is doing essential work, getting to the bottom of questions of election interference and obstruction of justice. Any attack on the investigation is an attack on the integrity of our democracy and will be reacted to with extreme outrage by the American people. Nobody is above the law, and that includes the president.
