Note: U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called today for formal articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump:
Speaker Pelosi made the right call to move forward with articles of impeachment. The facts of the case as presented in testimony, on paper and in the president’s own words are clear and unavoidable. A president who believes he is above the law and can leverage American taxpayer’s money to solicit foreign assistance to help his personal political fortunes presents exactly the type of crisis the Founders envisioned when they included impeachment in the U.S. Constitution. Public Citizen stands with the Speaker at this sober moment of decision as she moves the House toward the necessary next step to protect our democracy.
