EPA Asks White House to Rollback Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding
The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday submitted the “Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding and Motor Vehicle Reconsideration Rule,” a proposed rule that would roll back a 2009 declaration that greenhouse gases endanger human health. The declaration, based on decades of scientific research, is a central pillar of efforts to slow the impacts of climate change and protect communities across the countries from the pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels. In response, David Arkush, director of Public Citizen’s Climate Program, issued the following statement:
“It is beyond question that greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health and welfare. An EPA that seeks to ignore the most pressing pollution issue facing our nation and the world is actively working against the public interest, captured by industries that want to profit while the world burns.“
