As EPA Guts Key Protections for Clean Air and Clean Water, Big Oil Megadonors Set to Pollute on Grand Scale
WASHINGTON — Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin today announced sweeping steps to undermine key protections for the climate, including plans to undercut clean vehicle standards, undo standards for mercury and air toxics standards that protected the air and water around power plants, and undermining key regulations throttling the oil and gas industry. In response, David Arkush, director of Public Citizen’s Climate Program, issued the following statement:
No matter how the EPA disguises the decision to roll back pollution rules, today’s moves will make our air and water dirtier and make Americans sicker. Zeldin is granting the wishes of Trump’s billionaire corporate cronies, plain and simple, at a massive cost to our health and wallets. The announcement flies in the face of the EPA’s core mission to protect human health and safeguard our environment.
