Elijah Cummings was a man of imposing integrity and proof to everyone – of all political persuasions – that politicians can conduct themselves honorably and with respect for those with whom they differ.
He was a beacon not just for integrity, but for justice. His love for Baltimore was matched by his love for America, and his passionate understanding that loving his country meant ensuring the rights and dignity of all Americans. He championed civil rights, environmental justice, affordable medicines, health care for all, immigrant rights, respect for government workers, political equality, government accountability, a humane and proportionate response to the opioid addiction epidemic and so much more.
Public Citizen was proud to work with the great U.S. Rep. Cummings and joins with millions of Americans in mourning his passing.
