Crunch Time for Biden’s Regulatory Agenda
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) today released its fall 2022 Unified Agenda on regulations. Bitsy Skerry, regulatory policy associate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“It is crunch time for President Joe Biden’s regulatory agenda. With Congress divided, the most important policy achievements over the next two years are likely to materialize through proactive regulation and tougher enforcement. The fall 2022 Unified Agenda illustrates Biden’s commitment to protecting the public by laying out an ambitious plan to finalize important new regulatory safeguards.”
“However, regulators must pick up the pace to ensure new protections are in place and benefitting the public before the end of Biden’s first term. To ensure that new safeguards are as strong and effective as possible, the administration must implement its proposed reforms to modernize the regulatory review process immediately. Fortunately, the administration’s track record shows that it can rise to meet this moment.”
