As Musk Promotes Cruelty and Authoritarianism, He Drives Tesla into the Ground
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This morning, Tesla announced that its global sales declined by a third in the first quarter of the year. That is a 13% reduction from the same point in 2024, and the lowest since Q2 of 2022.
The news comes just days after a poll showed that two-thirds of Americans would not buy a Tesla, with the majority listing Musk as the reason why. It also comes one day after the New York State Pension Fund announced it was suing Tesla over Musk and DOGE’s effect on the company’s stock price.
Adam Zuckerman, senior clean vehicles campaigner with Public Citizen’s Climate Program, issued the following statement:
“Tesla’s plummeting sales show that consumers all over the world are sick of Elon Musk’s attempt to promote dangerous far-right leaders, policies, and movements. They are fed up with DOGE’s effort to gut life-saving services and aid. Consumers want electric vehicles, not cruelty, fascism, racism, and neo-Nazism. Unless Musk changes course, Tesla sales will continue to decline.”
