Public Citizen v. National Institutes of Health
In March and June of 2018, Public Citizen sent the National Institutes of Health (NIH) three separate requests under the Freedom of Information Act seeking certain records the agency had related to certain communications between the agency and key players in the alcohol and other industries. Public Citizen also requested a public interest fee waiver. As of mid-March 2019, NIH had not disclosed all records responsive to any of the three requests and could not provide a discrete timeline for when it could do so. On March 29, 2019, the Public Citizen Litigation Group filed suit seeking disclosure of the requested documents.
