Aaron Regunberg

Director of Climate Accountability Project, Climate Program


Aaron Regunberg (he/him) is director of Public Citizen’s Climate Accountability Project, where he leads Public Citizen’s efforts to hold Big Oil companies legally accountable for their climate crimes. Aaron has been involved in progressive politics and organizing for over 15 years. After founding a youth justice organization that helps young people fight for public education, Aaron served two terms in the Rhode Island General Assembly, where he won passage of worker protections, new renewable energy programs, and other climate initiatives, and came just two thousand votes from defeating a statewide incumbent in a progressive primary challenge. Aaron holds a JD from Harvard Law School and served as a law clerk to Judge Mary McElroy of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. His writing on climate and the law has appeared in The New Republic, Slate, Salon, The Boston Globe, Jacobin, Newsweek, Harvard Environmental Law Review, Ecology Law Quarterly, New York University Environmental Law Journal, and elsewhere.
