Tuesday, April 9: Activists to Greet William Barr’s Capitol Hill Testimony with Derision for Mueller Report Smokescreen; Demand Barr Release Full Mueller Report
Protest Outside Rayburn House Office Building Follows Last Week’s More Than 300 Demonstrations Nationwide
WHAT: Dozens of activists will protest outside the Rayburn House Office Building on Tuesday morning during the arrival of U.S. Attorney General William Barr. Barr will testify at the U.S. House Appropriations subcommittee to discuss the department’s 2020 budget.
Attorney General Barr has yet to release the full Mueller Report to Congress or share more than a 4-page summary with the American People. The activists will demonstrate to make sure that Americans nationwide and those coming to attend his testimony hear loud and clear that the country needs the U.S. House Judiciary Committee to have the full Mueller Report and that as much as possible should be released to the public.
On March 24, Barr failed to release Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report and underlying evidence to Congress. Subsequently, six U.S. House of Representatives committee chairs set an April 2 deadline for the report’s findings to be turned over. Barr missed that deadline and triggered last Thursday’s nationwide protests involving tens of thousands of Americans.
Majorities of Americans believe the full Mueller report should be made public. Activists will demand full transparency so that Congress can conduct responsible oversight of the executive branch.
Activists will also continue to rally and pressure Barr and members of Congress to ensure that the U.S. attorney general releases the full report.
