House Must Reject Trump’s Personal Wishlist Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Early this morning, the Senate passed the reconciliation bill. The bill will now move to the House for a floor vote next week.
Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement in response:
“This GOP funding bill has been a disaster from start to finish. At a time when Americans are struggling with higher costs of groceries, gas, and health care, Republican members — at the behest of the Trump administration — have chosen to push for massive funding increases for ICE, billions of taxpayer dollars to build Trump’s ballroom, and a nearly $2B slush fund to reward Trump’s cronies.
“When faced with a chance to do the right thing and vote to undo Trump’s ridiculous slush fund, Senate Republicans instead chose to capitulate to the President.
“The American people have made it abundantly clear that the GOP’s priorities are dangerous and wildly off base.
“When House members return to D.C. next week, they should listen to their constituents and scrap this bill.”
