Starlink Profiteering is ‘Glaring Conflict of Interest’ by Trump Admin

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Trump administration has been using tariffs to pressure other countries to approve Elon Musk’s satellite business Starlink, the Washington Post revealed today. Elon Musk contributed a quarter of a billion dollars to help Donald Trump win the White House, and Donald Trump has subsequently promoted Musk’s businesses, including showcasing Tesla at the White House.

In response to the Starlink news revealed today, Public Citizen co-president Lisa Gilbert issued the following statement:

“The glaring conflict of interest inherent in this pressure to preference a Musk owned company is disgusting. The bottom line here is that tools of trade and government should be utilized for the benefit of the American public, not abused for personal tech bro profiteering.”
