Schumer’s Coronavirus Commission Appointee Will Safeguard Taxpayer Dollars
Statements of Public Citizen Experts
Note: Today, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer designated Bharat Ramamurti, a longtime staffer for U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), to serve as one member of the new five-person Congressional Oversight Commission (COC). As provided under the CARES Act, the COC will oversee the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve’s $500 billion aid for corporations. The four ranking congressional leaders in the House and Senate each designate one member, and the chair is designated jointly by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
“Many of us inside the Beltway have benefited from Bharat’s wise counsel. Now the rest of America will have a chance to see his brilliance as well. Former national security official Fiona Hill, Rep. Adam Schiff and other heroes who have come into the light of late, make room for Bharat.”

“American taxpayer dollars will be more wisely spent now that Senator Schumer has appointed Bharat Ramamurti.”
