RFK Jr.’s Boorish Ignorance Was On Full Display Across Congressional Hearings
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In hearings before the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Appropriations Labor-HHS Subcommittee Sec. Kennedy gave halting and often incoherent responses to questions from Members of Congress, including on Trump’s pardoning of fraudsters and HHS reinstating over 800 brokers accused of fraud.
It is no wonder Sec. Kennedy isn’t cracking down on fraud. Public Citizen recently published a report on Kennedy’s connections to MAHA influencers that seek to exploit vulnerabilities in the American health care system to hawk unproven medical treatments and unregulated health supplements.
Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement:
“Today Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reminded the American people just how wrong President Trump was to nominate him as HHS Secretary and how wrong Republicans in Congress were to confirm him. Throughout the hearing he blathered, often incoherently and claimed completely untrue plaudits for the Trump Administration on health care and its efforts to take on fraud.
“The reality is that this is the most pro-fraud administration in American history, as evidenced by its pardoning of fraudsters, firing of inspectors general, effort to shut down the most important anti-fraud agency, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and more.
“The reality is, Kennedy, Trump and their allies are driving up the cost of health care and preventing patients from getting health services they need. Trump and Republican cuts will strip insurance for upwards of 20 million Americans and drive up costs for millions more.
“It is clear that Trump and Kennedy will continue to put profits ahead of patients and confuse Americans with their anti-science conspiracies. They refuse to fix the broken U.S. health care system and address the massive greed that hurts working families, while they simultaneously supercharge that greed and let fraudsters off the hook.
“Kennedy should save Americans from being forced to listen to him prattle on at upcoming Congressional hearings and resign today.”
