Justice for All Means Mueller Report Should Be Public

Note: Public accounts indicate that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the nearly two-year investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election was submitted to Attorney General William P. Barr today. Since 2017, Public Citizen has supported bipartisan congressional efforts for legislation requiring all special counsel reports to be made public.
The Department of Justice must hand over the complete Mueller report and all underlying investigatory documents to Congress. This is critically important, as Congress has a constitutional duty to wade through the results of the Mueller investigation and bring to light all wrongdoing by President Donald Trump that might have been buried by DOJ restrictions that keep them from detailing wrongdoing of a sitting president. Congress must follow the pathway laid out by Mueller, so that the public receives the answers it deserves. Our democracy demands nothing less.
