Hundreds of Activists Descend on Senators’ District Offices Calling for Fair Impeachment Trial
Public Citizen, Daily Kos and MoveOn Continue to Lead Push Across Seven States to Stop Key Witness Testimony Cover-Up in the Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Public Citizen, Daily Kos and MoveOn are working with local partners today to host events in seven states bringing together thousands of activists and local constituents to fight for a fair impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate. Attendees will gather outside of the district offices of U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Mitt Romney (R-Utah) to call on them to support the inclusion of crucial documents and witness testimony during the trial.
“By overwhelming margins, the American people support the commonsense notion that the U.S. Senate should hear from the fact witnesses who can shed light on Trump’s utterly implausible claim of innocent intent in withholding aid from Ukraine,” said Robert Weissman, president of Public Citizen. “Now it’s on the Senate to refuse complicity in Trump’s attempted cover-up.”
“As the impeachment process moves forward, we will continue holding our senators accountable to execute their duties and ensure a fair trial,” said Carolyn Fiddler, communications director at Daily Kos. “Republican senators must resist Trump’s bullying and ensure all available facts receive consideration by allowing relevant witness testimony.”
“A trial has witnesses, period,” said Mohammad Khan, campaign director at MoveOn. “Constituents overwhelmingly want the Senate to call witnesses, demand White House documents not released to the U.S. House, and do everything they can to hear the full story about Trump’s criminality, rather than allow Mitch McConnell to oversee a cover-up.”
