House’s Cowardly Vote for $70B for ICE is a Vote for Cruelty and Corruption
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the House passed a Trump-supported reconciliation bill allocating $70 billion in additional funding for ICE and CBP.
Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, condemned the passage of the legislation:
“Congressional Republicans gifting ICE with billions of extra dollars of funding while Americans are struggling to make ends meet is an outrage.
“Trump’s ICE has proven that it is dangerous and out of control. Today’s vote is a vote for cruelty, kidnapping, violence, unaccountability and corruption. It’s a vote against the constitution and the safety of our communities and neighbors. Shame on Congressional Republicans for ramrodding through this egregious funding.”
