Fair warning? Not quite
We’re not sure what the Food and Drug Administration is waiting for when it comes to stricter warning labels for fluoroquinolone antibiotics, medicines that can lead to tendon ruptures. Perhaps, the agency is waiting for even more people to suffer serious tendon injuries that might otherwise be prevented.
Public Citizen petitioned the FDA in 2006 to increase its warnings about the risks of these antibiotics, which includes Cipro. After being ignored for 16 months, Public Citizen sued the FDA on Thursday, asking a federal court to force the agency to act upon our petition.
