Duffy’s Fake Reality Show a Massive Ethical Failure

WASHINGTON — The Department of Transportation today released Secretary Sean Duffy’s reality TV show on its official YouTube channel. The show chronicles seven months of the Secretary’s family vacations, both sponsored and paid for by the companies regulated by the Department of Transportation. Toyota, which has its vehicles featured throughout the show, donated over $1 million, and has business pending before the DOT.

In response, Adam Zuckerman, senior clean vehicles campaigner with Public Citizen’s Climate Program, issued the following statement:

“This show is an ethical catastrophe. No amount of editing can correct the major ethical failure associated with filming a reality TV show and accepting vacations paid for by the companies Secretary Duffy is supposed to regulate. Not only has Duffy taken Toyota’s money; he worked with the automaker to decimate our fuel efficiency standards, making it even more costly for American families to take the road trips he’s calling on them to take. This show is a deep dive on how out of touch Secretary Duffy and the entire Trump administration are with the American people.”
