CFPB May Put Google Under Federal Supervision

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has taken steps to place Google under formal federal supervision, according to a report by the Washington Post. Bartlett Naylor, financial policy advocate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:

“When one of the most powerful companies in the world is creeping into Americans’ wallets, adult supervision is most welcome. As technology replaces traditional banking, Washington must make sure that lending remains fair and payments are safe.”
