Public Citizen v. Department of Defense

In September 2017, Public Citizen sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the United States Department of Defense (DOD) requesting communications between DOD and the White House and between DOD and the National Park Service about the use of military personnel or military equipment in parades in the District of Columbia or New York City. DOD did not respond to the request.  When Public Citizen followed up in February 2018 to request an estimated completion date, DOD could not provide one.  On March 5, 2018, Public Citizen filed suit seeking disclosure of the requested records. After we filed suit, DOD released records, and we dismissed the case.
