Public Citizen v. Mineta (tire pressure)
Public Citizen, the New York Public Interest Research Group, and the Center for Auto Safety successfully challenged the Department of Transportation’s decision to allow installation of an ineffective system to warn drivers when their tires are under inflated.
The court held that the Department of Transportation’s 2002 rule on tire pressure monitoring devices arbitrary, capricious, and contrary to law, requiring the agency to issue a new rule.
