Public Citizen Urges Texas General Land Office to Adopt Modern Storm Mitigation Solutions
Agency's draft plan ignores climate crisis
By Public Citizen Texas office
The Texas General Land Office is in the midst of adopting a new storm mitigation plan. Unfortunately, the draft plan doesn’t acknowledge climate change or propose solutions that include robust clean energy or resilient infrastructure.
Public Citizen – along with our partners at the Texas Campaign for the Environment, the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, Clean Water Action, and the Tarrant Coalition for Environmental Awareness – submitted a letter to the office with detailed suggestions about to improve the plan to ensure the health and safety of Texans during and after serious storms.
Dangerous weather is occurring in Texas with more frequency and ferocity because of climate change. Texans must be protected with 21st century solutions.
