“The American people are demanding accountability and action,” said Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen. “They want a government that fights corruption. One that stands up to corporate special interests. One that acts to mitigate the day-to-day struggles they are experiencing – the outrageous costs of healthcare, gas at the pump, groceries, childcare, and on and on. The mandate of the moment is crystal clear, and we’re excited to gather to discuss the realities of this election and the next moves that flow naturally from it.”
“Voters are mad as hell, and for good reason,” said Lindsay Owens, president and CEO of Groundwork Action. “They’re paying more at the grocery store, getting gouged at the pump, and watching big corporations and the wealthy reap record profits while working people foot the bill. Americans aren’t casting their ballots for half-measures or moral victories – they want leaders who will bring down costs, hold corporate bad actors accountable, and make billionaires pay their fair share. Popular Mandate is where we turn that demand into a plan, with a roadmap for leaders across the country to deliver.”
“People know the system is rigged, and they want action, not talk,” said Elizabeth Wilkins, president and CEO of Roosevelt Forward. “They are demanding more agency, more security, more of a say in the decisions that shape their lives. That means taking power back from corporations, rooting out the power of the wealthy over our democracy, and putting people back in the driver’s seat. Now is the time to show, not tell, what a government that fights for working people can do.”
“The American public is demanding that politicians take on monopolies,” said Nidhi Hegde, director of Fighting Corporate Monopolies. “After two years of Trump corruption, the public is ready to see some accountability for corrupt executives, and a real effort to break the grip of the companies driving up what families pay. It’s time for government to fight hard for working families.”
