Transitioning to Renewable Energy in Texas

Austin

Public Citizen continues a long history of advocacy and community organizing to keep Texas’ second largest municipally-owned electric utility and the capitol city focused on expanding clean energy offerings and phasing out fossil fuels.

We’re working to help Austin residents take advantage of federal home energy tax credits before they expired at the end of 2025. These tax credits can be used to reduce the cost of solar energy installations and other upgrades (including heat pumps) to make your home more energy efficient. Get more information here.

We continually engage with Austin Energy and the Austin City Council to advance renewable energy planning, fair rates that encourage energy conservation and robust programs to support solar and energy efficiency for homes and businesses. Get more information about our current activities here.
