Academic Medicine Article: The Destruction of Medicine by Market Forces

Medical schools have too often taught – actively, or passively by example – acquiescence to the increasing trends toward medicine as a business rather than teaching resistance to those trends in a manner consistent with medicine as a profession. We discuss this issue further in the January 2002 issue of the journal Academic Medicine.
