Truth Social Merger Is a Marriage of a Failed Company and a Fantasy Company
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Trump Media — which operates President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social — announced a $6 billion merger with TAE Technologies, a privately held fusion power company.
Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement in response:
“The deal seems to be a play for Trump to siphon money directly from the federal government into his family’s coffers.
“This merger represents the marriage of a failed company and a fantasy company. There’s no reason for investors to be excited about the merger and for it to be jumping Trump Media share values – except for one: the prospect of direct federal government payments to a company whose leading shareholder is the president of the United States.”
