WHAT: Tyson Slocum, director of Public Citizen’s Energy Program, will testify before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee about the Trump administration’s proposal to subsidize the nuclear and coal industries. Slocum will explain why U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s plan to subsidize uneconomic nuclear and coal power plants would saddle consumers with billions in bailout costs. Slocum will outline simple reforms that are needed to protect consumers in America’s power markets.
