The Law is Clear, Trump’s Vanity Arch Cannot Move Forward Without Congressional Approval
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Trump offered a new excuse for one of his many vanity projects, claiming that his giant arch would be used for drones and snipers. But the law is clear: Trump’s arch cannot lawfully move forward without congressional approval.
Statement from Nicolas Sansone, Public Citizen Litigation Group attorney and lead attorney for plaintiffs in Lemmon v. Trump:
“The President’s new justification for this wildly unpopular construction does nothing to cure its fundamental illegality. Congress has not authorized the arch, and unless and until Congress does so, building the arch on Memorial Circle is unlawful.”
