“Even with ratepayer assistance, Adrian Shelley, director of Public Citizen’s Texas Office, said he still thinks the state’s top lawmakers are missing the point.
‘Directly giving people financial assistance is a great approach, but there were other things that could have been done in context of Senate Bill 3 [the Legislature’s omnibus electricity bill] and the other recovery bills,’ Shelley said. ‘There were all these demand-side strategies that would have led to investment directly in people. … There really wasn’t a sincere conversation about those.'”
