Tax Reform Must Make Corporations, Wall Street, and the Wealthy Pay Their Fair Share
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Public Citizen joined more than 100 organizations in a letter to Congress sent today calling for changes to the tax code that would make it more fair, generate more revenue than if the 2017 temporary provisions simply expired, and create more inclusive economic growth. Susan Harley, managing director of Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division, released the following statement:
“Corporations and the wealthy received huge handouts thanks to the 2017 Trump tax cut law, and Americans are not going to stand for a repeat when many of the law’s provisions expire. Instead, Congress must use this opportunity to effect real change to make our tax system more progressive and create revenue to invest in communities, while finally putting to rest the failed myth of trickle-down economics.”
