Statement: Metasurveillance? Metahatespeech?
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Facebook announced today it is changing its company name to “Meta.” Robert Weissman, president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement:
“Metasurveillance? Metahatespeech? Metademocracysubversion? Metaeatingdisorders? Metacommercialism?
“No name change is going to enable Facebook to escape mounting demands for accountability.”
