Revised U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement Is Not What Was Promised
Statement of Lori Wallach, Director, Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch
Note: U.S. President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in today signed the revised U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS).
“Without the promised new terms to stop unfair trade advantages based on currency misalignments, and with the continuation of controversial foreign investor protections, there are few changes to an agreement that Trump called “horrible,” “unacceptable” and a “job killer.” This outcome does not represent the promised replacement of the old, failed trade agreement model.”
