MEDIA ALERT: Regulations Protect Our Economy, Working Families

Public Citizen President Robert Weissman to Testify at House Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on the Impacts of Regulation

WHAT: In what is expected to be a highly contentious debate, the U.S. House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law will hold a hearing on Wednesday about the relationship between regulations and jobs, wages and start-ups. Robert Weissman, president of Public Citizen, will testify at the hearing.

Weissman will offer concrete examples of regulatory safeguards that have benefited our economy, protected working families, increased wages and helped spur new industries that created high-paying jobs – as well as rules still under development that would do the same. Weissman also will rebut some of the more outlandish and inflammatory claims made by opponents of public protections.

WHEN: 3 p.m. EST, Wednesday, Feb. 24

WHERE: Room 2141, Rayburn House Office Building, 45 Independence Ave. SW, Washington, D.C.

WHO: Robert Weissman, president, Public Citizen
