Press Call Tomorrow: Judge Should Rule Against Illegal IRS Agreement with ICE, DHS

WASHINGTON D.C. — This Wednesday, April 16 at 9 am ET, Public Citizen Litigation Group will hold a virtual press call ahead of a hearing in the D.C. District Court on its request for a preliminary injunction in its lawsuit to stop the IRS from disclosing taxpayer information with immigration authorities in support of the Trump Administration’s mass-deportation effort.

Defendants in the case are Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Acting IRS Commissioner Melanie Krauss, the Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons. Plaintiffs in the case are Centro de Trabajadores Unidos, Immigrant Solidarity Dupage, Inclusive Action for the City and Somos Un Pueblo Unido. 

The hearing begins at 10:30 am ET at E. Barrett Prettyman United States Court House (333 Constitution Ave. NW Washington, D.C. 20001).

Speakers at the virtual press call will include Public Citizen Attorney Nandan Joshi, the lead attorney on the case, Public Citizen Attorney Michael Kirkpatrick, Raise the Floor Alliance Legal Director Kevin Herrera, Centro de Trabajadores Unidos Executive Director Ana Guajardo Carrillo, Vice President of Policy and Legal Strategy at Inclusive Action for the City Doug Smith and Staff Attorney at Somos un Pueblo Unido Gabriela Ibañez Guzman.
