More Than 260 Groups Oppose House Budget Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. – More than 260 groups led by Public Citizen, Families Over Billionaires, the League of Conservation Voters, and Americans for Tax Fairness late Monday called on Congress to reject the House budget resolution (H.Con.Res.14).
“This legislative framework will lead to policies that slash resources and raise costs for everyday workers and families in order to pad the pockets of the wealthy through lucrative contracts and exorbitant tax cuts, terrorize immigrants and their families, and harm the environment. The budget resolution is a non-starter for our communities,” the letter reads. “[T]o protect families, communities and our future, members of Congress should vote against this dangerous budget resolution.”
With many of the 2017 Trump tax cuts expiring at the end of 2025, Republicans in Congress are trying to shower their donors with tax giveaways that the wealthy do not deserve or need. The House Republican budget would take away our health care to pay for more than $4 trillion in tax giveaways to their billionaire and big corporate donors.
