Money in Politics Reforms Have Never Been More Necessary
WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, some of the country’s most prominent AI companies, investors, and tech entrepreneurs announced the formation of “Leading the Future,” a $100 million PAC that will support candidates “aligned with the pro-AI agenda” in state and federal races.
Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement in response:
“The crypto industry’s 2024 election spending playbook is one of successful moneyed corporate corruption. The lesson other tech companies have learned — and are already putting into practice — is that big spending in politics pays off in lax regulation and faster-moving legislation.
“Money in politics reforms are desperately needed to prevent Big Tech’s money from further permeating our democracy.”
