MEDIA ADVISORY: Tuesday Hearing: CPSC Is Protecting Industry Profits, Not Consumers
Public Citizen Expert to Testify on Consumer Product Safety Commission Failures
WHAT: Public Citizen’s Remington A. Gregg will testify at a hearing held by the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce titled, “Protecting Americans from Dangerous Products: Is the Consumer Product Safety Commission Fulfilling Its Mission?”
Gregg will argue that the commission under Acting Chair Ann Marie Buerkle’s leadership is putting industry profits ahead of the safety of consumers. This will be the first hearing in which the chair and commissioners will testify after the Washington Post revealed that the agency slow-walked an investigation into Britax jogging strollers that caused more than 100 injuries.
