Public Citizen Tells Federal Appeals Court: Don’t Let Trans Union Off the Hook for Reporting Error
Reporting Agencies Must Conduct a Meaningful Reinvestigation Into Consumer Disputes
WHAT: Before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Public Citizen attorney Julie Murray will seek relief for consumer Jeffrey Brill. Someone forged Brill’s signature on an auto lease, but Trans Union reported Brill as a person responsible for the lease payments. Brill disputed the reporting error and provided documentation to support his claim, but Trans Union refused to correct the error. Public Citizen is arguing that Trans Union failed to conduct a reasonable reinvestigation of the dispute, as the law requires.
