MEDIA ADVISORY: Guidance Documents Benefit Regulated Industries
Public Citizen Expert to Testify at Senate Hearing
WHAT: Amit Narang, regulatory policy advocate for Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division, will testify on the value of regulatory guidance documentsat a hearing held by the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management.
Narang will argue that guidance documents play a vital role in the implementation of public protections by addressing questions and circumstances not foreseen when the rule was issued. Because they promote clarity, eliminate uncertainty and are generally non-binding, guidance documents are usually welcomed – and frequently solicited – by regulated industries.
