Major Florida City Supports Medicare for All, Urges Congress to Act
Statement of Eagan Kemp, Health Care Policy Advocate, Public Citizen
Note: Today, the St. Petersburg, Fla. City Council passed a resolution in support of Medicare for All. With a population of more than 275,000, St. Petersburg is the fifth largest city in the swing state. Public Citizen is part of a coalition urging citizens to press their local governments to pass similar resolutions.
Citizens, regardless of their party affiliations, know just how commonsense, affordable and critically needed Medicare for All is, and are increasingly demanding that lawmakers act.
This resolution was passed through grassroots efforts and engaging with the public. That’s exactly how we’ll win Medicare for All in Congress.
