Hegseth Must Not Be Confirmed
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate Armed Services Committee is currently conducting a confirmation hearing for Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth.
Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, urged Senators not to confirm him:
“Pete Hegseth is not only unqualified, he has disqualified himself — with his views that women should not serve in combat roles, gay people should not serve in the military, bases should be renamed after Confederate generals, and more.
“His faux tough talk about “warriors” provides little comfort that he understands real national security threats or would credibly oversee the use of military force. His obsession with new, unproven technologies suggests a regime of even greater Pentagon waste than is now the case. And credible reports of his misconduct alone should be enough to prevent otherwise supportive Senators from approving his nomination.
“This should be an easy “no” vote for senators, no matter their party.”
