Easter Baskets Filled With Presents — and Lead.

The early bird catches the worm — that is, unless you’re a parent who did your Easter shopping early. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Friday, just two days before the holiday, the recall of two Easter toys because they violate the lead paint standard.

If you bought little Mikey a set of camouflage Easter Eggs or little Susie Easter Spinning Egg Tops, it’s time to take them back and contact Hobby Lobby, the toy manufacturer. Hobby Lobby, in return, will give you a $3 card to use on other Hobby Lobby products. Let’s just hope those toys don’t contain lead. About 13,000 Hobby Lobby Easter toys are affected, says the CPSC.

Make sure the toys in your child’s Easter basket are safe! You can contact Hobby Lobby at 800-326-7931. Hat tip to the Consumer Reports on Safety blog.
